In the past two years, in the wave of "from bricks to boards" in the construction ceramics industry, ceramic mid-boards have emerged strongly. On the surface, the concept of ceramic mid-board is not new, and it is not as eye-catching as new concepts such as "porcelain polished tiles" and "rock slabs." However, the trend of upgrading production lines and mid-board has swept through major ceramic production areas.
"Thin board" is energy-saving, "big board" is atmospheric, "thick board" replaces stone, and "rock board" breaks through the traditional wall and floor and goes towards home processing. All kinds of "boards" show their own capabilities. As a member of the ceramic "boards", the "middle plate" can rise strongly, and naturally there is a strong logic behind it.
What is mid-board ceramic tile
Medium plate usually refers to a product with a thickness of about 8.3-8.5mm, between thin plates and conventional products; the specification is 300×600mm or 400×800mm (half of a conventional square product).
The reasons for the strong rise of ceramic mid-boards
Although the anti-fouling performance of ceramic glazed tiles is unparalleled, "the flaws cannot be covered up" and "the merits are not worth the demerits". Floor tiles placed on the wall are too heavy, have poor anti-fouling properties, are high in cost, and are of little significance in terms of wear resistance and anti-slip properties. Thin sheets are nominally energy-saving and consumption-reducing, but in fact the cost is extremely high. The middle board happens to be just as the name suggests, it is so average.
1. Consumers need products with low water absorption to replace ceramic interior wall tiles
For a long time, the kitchen and bathroom walls in home decoration have been occupied by porcelain interior wall tiles. However, due to the basic characteristics of high water absorption of porcelain tiles, it has the shortcomings of insufficient density and low flexural strength.
The mid-board product has a high degree of porcelain and has the advantages of high flatness and high flexural strength. The whole-body marble all-ceramic mid-board is relatively light and thin (about 8.3-8.5mm thick), which is more convenient for wall laying.
2. The middle plate has a whole-body craftsmanship and is more aesthetically pleasing
With the upgrade of ceramic equipment and the gradual maturity of production technology,It provides conditions for manufacturing enterprises to transform mid-boards. The mid-boards currently have the technology of marble tiles. Their realistic textures and three-dimensional vividness truly restore the texture of natural marble, and are favored by many consumers.
3. The medium board is easy to construct and can be used on the wall or on the ground
The medium board has golden specifications that are suitable for wall mounting, such as 400×800 and 300×600. Such specifications do not require cutting and can be mounted on walls or paved on the ground, which fully demonstrates the integrity of the space and is more convenient to construct.
The difference between medium-panel interior wall tiles and traditional porcelain tiles
1. Water absorption
Medium-panel interior wall tiles are porcelain tiles, with very low water absorption, controlled at the double-zero standard, while traditional porcelain tiles are ceramic tiles, with generally high water absorption, generally between 10% and 12%.
2. Brick density
The bricks of medium-panel interior wall tiles have a higher degree of vitrification, higher density, and high damage resistance.
Traditional porcelain tiles are ceramic bodies. High water absorption and low brick density are the salient features of traditional porcelain tiles. At the same time, the anti-destruction strength of traditional porcelain tiles is also relatively low.
3. Wear resistance
The surface wear resistance of medium-panel interior wall tiles is higher than that of traditional porcelain tiles, because the mid-panel interior wall tiles have high density and low water absorption, while traditional porcelain tiles have low density and high water absorption, resulting in traditional porcelain tiles being more resistant to wear and tear. It is not as abrasive as mid-board interior wall tiles.
4. Application
The mid-board can be placed on the ground, while traditional porcelain tiles cannot be placed on the ground. Moreover, the mid-board uses glaze polishing technology, which can completely achieve the paving effect of integrating the wall and floor with the floor tiles.
The 800×800mm bricks have low water absorption and require processing to be mounted on the wall; the surface of the thin plate is limited to a flat surface and cannot be used for special-shaped grinding tools, chamfering and other processes; the ceramic tiles have high water absorption and inevitably have limitations. The surface of the mid-board can be presented using various techniques and can be directly mounted on the wall without post-processing. From the perspective of consumers, it is extremely convenient.
Construction precautions for medium-panel interior wall tiles
Medium-board ceramic tiles are a type of ceramic tile product with low water absorption. When laying them on the wall, it is recommended to use reinforced ceramic tile adhesive to lay them on the wall.
At the same time, please pay attention to ensuring that the base surface of the wall is clean and flat before paving it. During the paving process, gaps must be left. We recommend leaving a gap of 1.5mm-3mm between bricks.
Finally, after the paving is completed and fixed, it is recommended to use a seam sealant to make the seams beautiful, so that the overall effect will be better.
